2020 Color Trends

Color can set the mood for your entire home and choosing the best color for you can be downright scary. So, we have looked at some of the top trending colors of 2019 and the newest colors for 2020. We’ll talk about why they are popular and how to incorporate them into your home. 2019 and now 2020 have brought a shift to bolder designs, lifestyle-based choices and color specific rooms.

1. A Crisp White

White is such a classic color choice that is extremely versatile.

White is an excellent backdrop for antique décor and farmhouse style trends which have been big in 2019.

White is a great color choice for kitchens because it it can make the space feel clean and open.

2. Dark and Moody Blues

A deep rich blue can add complexity and character to any room.

Dark blue is a great choice for powder rooms, entryways and accent walls. We are even seeing it on cabinets in kitchens and bathrooms.

Blue is a traditional color and will not go out of style. 

3. Rich Greens

A dark green adds depth to a space and makes a big statement.

Green can add sophistication in a traditional dining room, create a cozy office or a relaxing den.

Green pairs well with neutrals and can also be played with; by adding bright saturated hues you can create a fun space.

4. Neutral Woodland Shades

Colors such as mushroom gray are commonly inspired by nature and botanicals.

Mushroom hues look great with natural wood tones and stone.

Mushroom can be used in a living room for a relaxing and nature inspired space or a kitchen like the one above for a classical look.

5. Soft Clay

Blush pink is no longer just for the nursery and is commonly seen as a calming backdrop in living rooms and bedrooms.

Soft pinks are warm and calming and can add a touch of casual elegance.

Pinks blend well with many colors including neutral tones and jewel tones.

Benjamin Moore just named their color of the year for 2020 – a soft rosy hue, First Light.

6. Deep Mustard

These earthy rust colors add a pop of color to any room and can add a rich focal point.

Mustard is great for an accent wall, trim or a small bedroom.

The earthy tone adds visual interest and blends well with other earth tones and neutrals.

7. Misty Blues and Greens

A blend of blues or greens with grey and even purple can be a great backdrop for any room as it blends with all colors on the spectrum.

Misty colors create a serene environment and can cover up imperfections easily.

 A misty blue or green color is very versatile and can complement many other colors. 

8. Pewter

Pewter hues can be used in just about every room in your home.

The gray-beige can be a rich alternative to white walls as it blends well with all colors.

A pewter color can make a space feel calm and relaxing or add drama when you darken the value.

9. Lilac Gray

Gray is a classic and universal color. The addition of lilac creates a warmer and more pleasant effect.

Lilac gray is great for a minimalistic approach or a neutral backdrop in any room.
